Denholme Town Council exists to represent the people of Denholme as part of the local government structure.

Through an extensive range of discretionary powers local councils provide and maintain a variety of important and visible local services including allotments, bridleways, burial grounds, bus shelters, car parks, commons and open spaces, community transport schemes, community safety and crime reduction measures, events and festivals, footpaths, leisure and sports facilities, litter bins, public toilets, planning, street cleaning and lighting, tourism activities, traffic calming measures, village greens and youth projects.

Elections are held every four years to elect the 9 Town Councillors. The Chairman and Vice Chair are elected by fellow Councillors and serve a year in office.

The Town Council is funded through a local tax called the precept and aims to use the precept for the benefit of residents to improve and enhance the local area. You can find out more about the council's income and finance here.

Denholme Town Council meets on a monthly basis, usually the second Tuesday of the month at Denholme Mechanics Insitutue. The meetings are held in public and any member of public are welcome to attend. A short period is set aside if you would like to speak.
